PROGRAM AGENDA

I. Pathophysiology of rheumatoid arthritis (RA)
II. Current and emerging therapeutic targets in RA:
  • 3D video—RA pathophysiology: focus on cytokines as cellular mediators of chronic inflammation
III. Inhibitors of intracellular cytokines signaling: targeting the JAK-STAT pathway as new therapeutic strategy in RA
  • 3D video— JAK-STAT inhibition in RA
IV. JAK inhibitors: efficacy and safety in RA
  • What special opportunities do they offer?
    - How do they differ from each other?
V. Interactive case studies
VI. Conclusions

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

After completing the CME activity, learners should be better able to:

  • Review current understanding of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) pathophysiology with focus on the cytokine signaling pathways underlying chronic inflammation.
  • Describe how specific cytokines involved in RA pathophysiology signal through the Janus kinase (JAK) pathway and the mechanism of action, selectivity, and effects of new and emerging JAK inhibitors.
  • Discuss new data from clinical trials of approved and investigational JAK inhibitors and their efficacy/safety profiles across the spectrum of RA.

TARGET AUDIENCE

This CME initiative is designed to meet the educational needs of rheumatologists, rheumatology nurses and other healthcare providers involved in the treatment of patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
